Close unrelated tabs and hide personal or confidential information. Start on the page where the task begins. Use a readable browser zoom and leave enough time for each screen to load.
Record the task
Choose Screen or TabExample with sample data
Source UI example: the connected Chrome extension, ready to record. Choose Screen or Tab, then Start. Screen opens the browser source chooser; Tab records the active tab.
Open the IPPO extension on the tab you want to capture. If you select another target tab, switch to it and reopen IPPO there.
Press Start. Complete any screen or tab permission prompt shown by Chrome.
Perform the task in a clear sequence. Use Pause to suspend recording and Resume when you are ready to continue.
Press Stop when the task is complete. In the review panel, check the captured steps and rename, reorder or remove steps as needed.
Choose Save to Captures to keep the recording in your library, Import to project to add it to a project, or Import & generate guide to create a guide. Select the project and guide language when requested.
Confirm the selected outcome: Save to Captures uses Save capture; Import to project uses Import capture; Import & generate guide uses Import & generate. Stopping alone does not upload the recording. Keep the browser open until the save or import-started confirmation appears.
Open Captures or the destination project in the web app and check the result. If you selected generation, follow its progress in Videos.
Check the result
Choose what happens nextExample with sample data
Source UI example after stopping a recording. Save to Captures is selected, so the confirmation is Save capture. Captured steps above this panel are omitted.
Choose the destination that matches your task.
Review the captured steps before confirming.
The confirmation label changes with the chosen destination.
Confirm that the recording shows the intended window and the complete task. If a prompt was cancelled or capture was blocked, resolve the permission issue and make a short test recording before repeating a long workflow.
Record & Import
Upload an existing video
Use a video you already have as the source for a new guide.
The uploader accepts MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI, MKV and M4V. Check the upload screen and Usage & limits for the limits that apply to your account. A recognised extension does not guarantee that a damaged or unsupported video encoding can be processed.
Upload and process
Start from Upload videoExample with sample data
Example with sample data: Upload video starts from the project workspace. This image shows the entry point, not an upload in progress or the generation dialog.
Open Projects, then open the destination project. Choose Upload video.
Select the file and check the selected filename and any validation message.
Choose Start upload. Keep the page open and follow the upload progress.
When the source is ready, choose Generate on its row. Select Source language and the output language versions, then confirm Generate or Run AI as shown in the dialog.
Wait for generation to finish, then choose Open editor on the guide and review it.
Expected result
The source video and the generated guide appear in the project at their respective stages. Upload completion alone is not guide completion.
If the upload fails
Check the displayed error, available storage, network connection and file format. Do not assume that refreshing resumes an upload. Use the retry or resume action only when the uploader offers it, and check for an existing uploaded copy before submitting again.
Record & Import
Create a guide from a document
Import a PDF or Word document and review the guide drafted from its contents.
The project document-import flow accepts PDF and DOCX files and displays its file-size limit. Use a readable document with clear headings and ordered instructions. Remove material that should not be included in the guide.
Import and review
Attach a documentExample with sample data
Example with sample data: Attach document opens the PDF/DOCX import flow. Choose your file and review the available options before submitting.
Open Projects and the destination project. Choose Attach document.
Choose the PDF or DOCX file, or drop it in the dialog. Confirm the displayed filename and resolve any validation error.
Choose the output Language in the dialog.
Choose Generate guide and wait for the result or error shown by the dialog.
Open the resulting guide and compare it with the document. Correct missing instructions, ordering and formatting before publishing.
Important
Scanned pages, tables and complex layouts can need manual correction. Do not assume that every source detail has been preserved.
Check the draft
Document extraction is a starting point. Complex layouts, scanned pages and tables may need manual correction. If the result is incomplete, provide clearer source material or edit the guide rather than assuming all original content was preserved.
Record & Import
Get clearer results from your recordings
Make the task easier to understand for both the draft generator and the person reading your guide.
Source UI example: the connected Chrome extension, ready to record. Choose Screen or Tab, then Start. Screen opens the browser source chooser; Tab records the active tab.
Define one outcome, prepare safe example data, and close unrelated windows. Use consistent zoom and a readable resolution. Start from a recognisable screen and avoid including passwords or private messages.
Example with sample data
Example: use a fictitious “Demo customer” record with example.com addresses, and record only the task you want the reader to repeat.
During and after recording
Move through the task deliberately. Let menus and pages finish loading before the next action. Avoid unnecessary navigation and repeated clicks.
After generation, follow the guide as a new user would. Replace vague descriptions with the exact action and expected outcome. Check that each screenshot shows the relevant state and that redaction remains visible in the exported result.
Important
Stopping a recording alone does not upload it. Complete Save capture or the chosen import confirmation and wait for the result.
